From flock to finished garment.
I have a flock of Gotland sheep, an unusual breed in the UK originating from the island of Gotland off the coast of Sweden. They have luxurious long fleeces with a sheen to the curls which continues into the wool when it is spun, creating a soft and silky tweed.
We shear the sheep, have the wool spun at The Border Mill in the Scottish Borders, then weave the yarn into tweed and sew it into shawls, scarves, throws and neckwarmers. Nothing is wasted if we can possibly use it.
